Round 4, Pick 1 (31) (Owens, Lynch, Turner) Andre Johnson, WR, HOU. - 851 yards and 8 touchdowns in
9 games... that is huge production for just over half a season. Where do you draft Johnson if you are sure he is going
to play the entire season? Second round probably? Leg issues continue to bother him and he is dealing with a hamstring
in camp, but if he is healthy, you can expect top level production. Round 4, Pick 2 (32) (Manning,
Wayne, McGahee) Willie Parker, RB, PIT. - 1200+ yards 3 seasons in a row and one season removed from 16 total touchdowns.
It is very unlikely that Parker puts up these kind of yards again and only scores 2 times like he did in 2007. The risk
here is Rashard Mendenhall who was the Steelers first round draft choice this year and could vulture goal line carries like
Davenport did last year. Round 4, Pick 3 (33) (Westbrook, Fitzgerald, Jacobs) Torry Holt, WR, STL.
- Over 80+ catches and over 1100 yards every year since 2000. This guy is as consistent as they come and the only thing
holding him back from being in the Wayne/Owens/Fitzy group is the health of Marc Bulger. If Orlando Pace can help the
offensive line keep Bulger upright more often this season, Holt can get back to 1300 yards and double digit touchdowns again.
He is by far the #1 target on the team and Steven Jackson brings balance to the offense. Round 4,
Pick 4 (34) (Barber, Portis, Holmes) Plaxico Burress, WR, NYG. - 12 TD's last year on a gimpy ankle, totally
dominated during the playoffs and is playing for a new contract. This guy is a gamer, he will perform again this season
defending the super bowl championship. I have new respect for this guy after reading "The GM" by Tom Calahan.
The book is about Ernie Accorsi the long time GM for the Giants and his take on Burress and the background information in
this book about how he prepares and thinks about the game is very interesting and not what I had thought about him previously.
Round 4, Pick 5 (35) (Jackson, Jones-Drew, Roethlisberger) Chad Johnson, WR, CIN. - Ocho Cinco
is a nut job, 100% wacko, but he makes catches and piles up yards. He is definitely #2 in the red zone behind Houshmandzadeh,
but if he can connect on 2-3 more long distance scores this year, his value goes up big time. He is another guy motivated
to upgrade his contract situation and never under value the power of money. Worst case scenario is you have 1300 yards
and 6 td's in your pocket for sure. Round 4, Pick 6 (36) (Peterson, Romo, Lewis) Anquan Boldin,
WR, ARI. - Absolutely the toughest wide receiver to tackle in the NFL. Bigger than every DB in the league, he takes
pride in his run after the catch ability and uses his strength to work in traffic. He has had a few leg problems the
last few seasons which has held him back and he is now the clear #2 behind Fitzgerald in the offense. But there is enough
to go around and Boldin will perform like a #1 wideout every other week or so. Round 4, Pick 7 (37)
(Addai, Gore, Houshmandzadeh) Roy Williams, WR, DET. - Continuing the theme of contract motivation, Williams is in
the last year of his contract and is probably trying to play his way out of Detroit and into a happier situation for himself
(Dallas anyone?). This extra energy should help him find the end zone a few more times this year and maybe stay healthy
for a change. The one season he played 16 games, 1300 yards, 7 td's. He could eclipse both this season if
Kitna can get him the ball. No running game here to worry about either, all passing and always behind in games... Round
4, Pick 8 (38) (Moss, LJ, Colston) Reggie Bush, RB, NO. - I was one guy who fell for the hype last year and I thought
I struck it rich when Deuce McAllister went down early in the season to a knee injury. But Bush never really got going,
even with Sean Payton feeding him the ball relentlessly in every situation. It got so bad for Reggie that the Saints
started giving Mike Carney (Who?) the ball on the goal line because Bush couldn't produce consistently in short yardage.
He also lacked the big play ability that he showcased during his freshman season. This pick represents the hope that
Bush is very embarrassed by last season and comes back stronger this year and makes good on his opportunity. If anyone
saw his incredible touchdown on Saturday night in the preseason game against Houston, you know what he can do. Bush
took a simple swing pass at the 10 yard line, darted for the corner of the end zone and literally hurdled the defensive back
who tried to take him out at the waist. Incredible athletic move. If he can do that kind of thing in the regular
season, he may become the phenom from USC yet. Round 4, Pick 9 (39) (Brady, Edwards, T. Jones) Edgerrin
James, RB, ARI. - 1200 yards rushing and 7 scores in 2007. The Cards thought about drafting a replacement or supplement
for James this spring, but didn't do a thing. He comes into the season with the job to himself, which is something
that most backs can't say. He should be a solid, steady performer who has 10 td potential if things fall right for
the team. All 5 offensive linemen return this season so that should help the cohesion of the running unit under Russ Grimm
and give James more room to run and Leinart/Warner more time to throw. Round 4, Pick 10 (40) (LT,
Grant, Brees) Wes Welker, WR, NE. - Who would have ever thought that this guy could be a #1 fantasy wide receiver?
Hard to argue with a guy who put up such ridiculous numbers in his first year with New England. 112 catches, 1175 yards
and 8 touchdowns. The Patriots also let Donte Stallworth go to Cleveland so there may be even more butter for Welker.
Brady just loves the guy so why not?
